Behind the scenes of the national gas collection project in Marun has become a scene of organized corruption, political lobbying, and betrayal of national interests over the past year and a half. Two representatives from Khuzestan, Mohammad Tala Mazlumi and Amir Hossein Nazari, have exerted all their efforts to exempt the corrupt contractor 'Petronirouyeh Saba' from the provisions of Article 68 and to prevent his disqualification; a contractor with 8 trillion tomans in financial violations and forged documents.
Violations and Lobbying by Representatives
This company has received 90% of the contract amount while only achieving 30% physical progress and was suspended since September 2023 due to presenting 6 trillion tomans in forged invoices. However, with the change of parliament in 2024, heavy lobbying began, and under pressure from these two representatives, the contract was extended, and payments were transferred to a joint account requiring two signatures.
In exchange for this support, the contractor brought the representatives' electoral circles into the project; from contracting to sales and promises to settle old debts. The result? 600 billion tomans in new debt, project stoppage, and waste of national resources.
New Pressures and Deteriorating Project Status
The situation escalated with the entry of Mohammad Mohammadi and his circle in Bidboland; pressures to prevent the seizure of the 5 trillion toman guarantee and to receive 2.5 trillion tomans in new payments under the title of 'adjustment' reached their peak.
The reality is: the two representatives from Khuzestan have effectively become agents of the corrupt contractor; not representatives of the people.
