Reports indicate a serious crisis in the management of the Chazabeh border terminal; a crisis that, due to the actions of Ali Tarafi, the mayor of Bostan, has severely impacted the livelihoods of local people and border residents.
Bribery and Corruption; A Bitter Reality
According to published documents, the mayor of Bostan has illegally increased the tariffs of the border terminal by receiving approximately 150 billion tomans in bribes from two contractors active at the Chazabeh border. This is while the determination of tariffs is not within the jurisdiction of the municipality, and this action has imposed additional economic pressure on local activists and residents of the area.
Transfer to a Foreign National; A Threat to Job Opportunities
Evidence shows that a significant portion of border activities has been transferred to an Iraqi national known for his corrupt background in the community. This individual, using his influence at the border, has proposed humiliating conditions and unethical offers for hiring local workers, effectively blocking local people's access to job opportunities.
Residents of the area believe that the transfer of border management to this network has deprived them of border revenues that are their natural right, worsening the economic and social conditions of border residents every day. Although the municipality cannot officially contract directly with a foreign national, an Iranian intermediary has been placed in between, and the actual control and financing of the projects remain with the same Iraqi individual.
