Controversial €10 Million Purchase; Falahian's Legacy in Padjam Petrochemical

The violations of the former CEO of Padjam Petrochemical, Javad Falahian, have brought irreparable losses to this organization. The purchase of oil at a price 16 times higher than the market has raised serious questions about the future of this company.

The violations of the former CEO of Padjam Petrochemical continue to haunt the current managers of this company and have resulted in accumulated losses for this organization. In a controversial purchase, an amount of €10 million was paid to a company called Padico for oil, which has no connection to the commercial affairs of the petrochemical industry.

The Role of Brokers and Falahian's Supporters

The choice of this company is linked to the relationships of its managers with a member of parliament who was Falahian's main supporter in securing the CEO position at Padjam. According to global market reports, the price of industrial-grade oil in 2024 has averaged between $1,200 and $1,600 per ton, but Falahian and his accomplice brokers purchased this oil at a price of €20,000 per ton, which is 16 times the global market price.

The defense of this purchase was made with the collaboration and support of the project operations manager and the commercial manager, and the members of the then-commission for transactions at Padjam also collaborated as accomplices in this blatant theft. However, the important point in this corruption is the uncertainty surrounding the fate of the purchased oils.

Financial Damages and Product Quality

If we assume the need for this oil, considering the average composition of 0.5% to 3% oil in the GPPS product, all of this 500 tons of oil has been consumed for the production of about 20,000 tons of product, meaning the cost price of the product has at least doubled compared to its market price.

If this product has not been consumed, over time, it will undoubtedly face a decline in quality, adding a loss of nearly 2 trillion tomans to the list of other damages left by Falahian's management.

Falahian, with a record full of corruption and violations that led to the destruction of a petrochemical unit, instead of being held accountable in the courts, has been transferred to a larger company with the support of his behind-the-scenes representatives who have tribal reasons. This €10 million violation has turned into a bribe and extensive financial benefits to representatives, giving him this opportunity.

Falahian's record at Padjam is a destructive and damaging legacy that has posed a significant challenge for subsequent managers to compensate for the losses and damages.
