In recent days, multiple criticisms have been raised regarding the management and employment practices in the contracting services personnel of the National Drilling Company. The focus of these criticisms is on the performance of Emad Jalili, the current head of contracting services personnel at National Drilling.
Performance Under Scrutiny
Jalili, who has been working in this organization for nearly 16 years, has remained in his position despite several changes in CEOs and senior managers. This is while he is employed as a fixed-term contractual worker. Critics rightly ask how it is that no decision has been made for his transfer or change of position over these years.
Another part of these criticisms relates to family hiring. Evidence shows that family members of Emad Jalili, including his brothers and wife, have been employed in this organization. The name of Farshid Mambini, the former human resources manager of the National Drilling Company, has also been mentioned, with some of his relatives working in this department as well.
A Rent-Seeking Hiring Network?
The list published by critics includes names such as Behzad Jalili (Emad Jalili's brother), Seyed Yaqoub Mousavi Kasliani (Emad's brother-in-law), and Azadeh Bahrami (Emad's wife). This is just a part of hundreds of hiring cases that have been conducted directly or indirectly. It has been claimed that these issues have been brought to the attention of Mr. Akbari, the human resources manager, but no action has been taken in this regard, and Emad Jalili remains in his position.
This comes while Morteza Fooladi, the CEO of the National Drilling Company of Iran, recently spoke about meritocracy. Critics believe that the current situation contradicts these claims and is seen as a sign of complicity with the rent-seeking hiring network in the company.
