Recent reports from Khuzestan indicate that widespread corruption is occurring in oil hiring in this province. Amirhossein Nazari, the representative of Ramhormoz and Ramshir in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, along with Ali Khorshidi, the director general of tax affairs in the province, and Amir Hayat-Moghadam, the representative of Mahshahr, are facilitating the hiring of their relatives and close associates in oil and petrochemical companies in the south of the country.
Network of Corruption and Discrimination in Hiring
Informed sources report that this group, by influencing managers of oil companies, directs hiring processes in their favor and disregards the rights of local youth. In this context, Akbar Narimani and Amrollah Qasemi, two prominent contractors in the oil and gas sector of Khuzestan, have been identified as financial supporters of Nazari's election campaign.
There are also more serious allegations against Nazari. During his tenure as the head of the Industry, Mining, and Trade Organization of Khuzestan, he allegedly seized 20 hectares of the mountains of Joubaji village in Ramhormoz through bribery and fraud, converting it into a villa garden, an antelope breeding farm, and a family residence. This complex has not only failed to create job opportunities for the youth of Ramhormoz but has also exacerbated the exploitation of cheap labor by hiring Afghan nationals at low wages, further oppressing the local youth.
Family Connections and Youth Unemployment
Hamid Nazari, the cousin of the parliamentary representative, has also been identified as another link in this network. He exploits his family position to advance group interests by being hired as the purchasing and sales manager at Ahvaz Steel Company. Civil activists warn that these actions are taking place at a time when youth unemployment in Khuzestan has exceeded 25 percent.
Previously, a multi-thousand billion tomans corruption case regarding the contract between Bidboland Gas Company and Petro Niroo Saba addressed Nazari's role in introducing a fraudulent contractor and insisting on his continued activity despite the exposure of the massive corruption of the managers of this company.
