The Deputy Minister of Oil has warned the managers of the Petrofarhang holding that if the uncertainty of the Petropalaysh Kian project continues, there is a possibility of their removal from authority. This decision has been made in light of serious challenges in Iran's petrochemical industry, where the losses resulting from the halt of this mega project have become one of the main issues facing the industry.
Management Challenges and Project Halt
The Petropalaysh Kian project, recognized as one of the largest mega projects in the country at the Middle Eastern level, was halted after signing a partnership agreement with Linde of Germany due to claims of U.S. sanctions. Management weaknesses and accumulated currency losses in the Petrofarhang holding have also been cited as additional reasons for pressure on the managers of this holding to make changes at the top management level.
Experts attribute the halt in the progress of the Kian project to the lack of a related shareholder agreement, which has increased shareholder dissatisfaction and hindered the advancement of the plan. In this situation, the future of this project and the management overseeing it is shrouded in uncertainty.
