The reduction in oversight and security of the pipeline lines at Bidboland Refinery has raised serious alarms regarding the security of this major project. The pipelines, as vital arteries of refineries, play an important role in the continuity of production and energy security, and protecting them is one of the main responsibilities of the security unit.
Suspicious Changes in the Security Structure
Following the appointment of Mr. Ghazi Dezfuli as the security manager in May 2023, changes were made to the structure of pipeline protection. Through his follow-ups and via the support deputy, Mr. Zargam Behzadi, the responsibility for pipeline protection was handed over to a company named "Fatehin." This company, which is claimed to be affiliated with the police, consists of about 30 members of Basij forces from various regions and appears to lack the necessary expertise and experience for this sensitive mission.
This situation has not only paved the way for thefts of the pipeline lines but has also caused dissatisfaction and concern among the personnel. According to informed sources, the forces of Fatehin company in the cities of Omidiyeh, Mahshahr, and other areas are mostly at rest and have no effective oversight over their duties.
Recent Thefts and Security Negligence
Recently, fuel tankers have been loaded and stolen from station 608, and interestingly, the security manager of the refinery was unaware of the situation until these thefts occurred. This negligence regarding the security status of the refinery has raised serious questions about the management and oversight of Ghazi Dezfuli.
Moreover, the appointment of individuals lacking expertise, such as Jalil Hamidi and Behrad Nobi, and the use of familial and political connections have turned the administrative structure of the refinery into a collection of dependent forces. These violations have been previously mentioned in various reports and have raised serious concerns among employees and specialists.
