Widespread Protests; Tear Gas and Shop Closures in Tehran

Protesters in Tehran have called for shop closures and faced tear gas fire from security forces.

In continuation of the protests on Tuesday, January 8, videos from various locations in Tehran have been released showing that demonstrators are marching towards shop closures with protest slogans. These protests have peaked in the Sepahsalar shoe and bag market and the surrounding streets.

Tear Gas Fired at Protesters

Available images confirm that special guard forces have been deployed in these areas and retreated after confronting the gathering protesters. It seems these protests have spread to other streets such as Ferdowsi and Jomhouri, and many shops in these areas have been closed.

Reports of tear gas being fired at the demonstrators have also been recorded in the Aladdin Passage, with images well capturing the atmosphere of these protests.
