Official oil workers in the Pars One operational area (Asaluyeh) and the offshore oil and gas platforms of Pars staged a protest today (July 29). These workers, in contact with ILNA reporters, spoke about their harsh working conditions and demands.
Workers' Issues and Demands
The workers, pointing to the war-like conditions and unbearable heat that have added to previous problems, demanded attention to their demands. They cited the removal of the salary cap in all operational sectors of oil and the non-segregation of jobs into specialized and support roles as among their demands.
Additionally, the workers emphasized the implementation and effectiveness of salary adjustment items to all payment components, the complete removal of the retirement cap, and full payment of workers' service years. They also demanded that the oil retirement fund not be merged with other retirement funds and the adjustment of the minimum wage for newly hired workers.
Experience of Previous Protests
The workers also demanded the refund of excess deducted taxes in recent years according to existing laws and the full implementation of Article 10 of the Oil Law. It is worth noting that these workers organized several labor protests last year as well.
