Crisis at Petrosina; Why Are the Voices of Ghizaniyeh's Guards Not Reaching the Authorities?

Dissatisfaction with Working Conditions at Petrosina Ghizaniyeh

Reports received from the security staff of the contracting company Petrosina in the Ghizaniyeh area indicate dissatisfaction with the employment of human resources and working conditions in this section. According to these reports, instead of providing the four required personnel for each security post, only two people have been employed per post. This has resulted in local guards working continuously for about 12 to 13 hours daily instead of the standard eight-hour shift, while their wages and benefits are calculated and paid based on eight hours of work.

Violation of Workers' Rights

The workers consider this situation a violation of workers' rights and believe that reducing the number of staff not only imposes long and exhausting working hours on employees but also deprives local youth of employment opportunities. According to them, the financial benefits from reducing the number of staff go to the contractor. Additionally, local reports suggest that this situation has recently led to tensions and conflicts among some young people and relatives of the unemployed, with claims that these conflicts have resulted in two deaths and four injuries.

Managers' Reaction and Request for Investigation

The workers' protest has been met with threats and intimidation by Petrosina's managers, with workers facing dismissal and a series of security threats. Given the sensitivity of the issue, a number of employees have called for the intervention of the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare, relevant inspectors, and the public prosecutor to investigate the human resources situation, the implementation of labor laws, respect for workers' rights, and to clarify the dimensions of this issue.
