Protest Against Working Conditions at Nakhl Asmari; Employees' Dissatisfaction Voiced

Reports received from employees of Nakhl Asmari, located at Site 3 of Mahshahr Port and a subsidiary of the Oil Industry Pension Fund (Ahdaf), indicate widespread dissatisfaction with working conditions, contract arrangements, and employee welfare.

The company is managed by Alireza Barzin, with Yousef Zarrin serving as both the company's deputy and a board member. Informed sources claim that a significant portion of the company's managerial decisions are made with his approval. Employees also allege that a contracting company has been fictitiously registered to limit workers' ability to file direct complaints against the main company.

Contract and Benefits Issues

According to these sources, the contracts for the contract workers are renewed monthly, and employees receive only the minimum legal wage. They claim that benefits such as hardship allowances, job bonuses, night shifts, PetroCard, and other customary benefits are not provided. Another issue raised is the non-implementation of the job classification plan in this company. Employees believe that despite legal obligations, the company's management has so far refrained from implementing this plan.

Workers also state that despite resolutions from the Special Economic Zone Organization and the Labor Department regarding restrictions on employee presence in extreme weather conditions, they are still forced to attend work under the threat of non-renewal of contracts, without receiving overtime pay, and on a compulsory basis.

Welfare and Services Status

According to informed sources, the use of outdated machinery and vehicles for employee transportation, especially in the region's extremely hot weather, is another issue that has repeatedly been protested by the working staff. Employees also criticize the poor quality and quantity of the company's food and claim that the welfare services in this organization are far from the expected standards.

According to this report, employees say that various amounts are deducted from their salaries each month for different reasons, and this practice is carried out to reduce costs and increase the company's profitability. Another issue raised is the manner of signing work contracts. According to these sources, contracts are signed under pressure and coercion, and workers are not allowed to obtain a copy of the contract or even take a picture of it.
