Layoffs at Takht Jamshid Petrochemical; Nepotistic Hires Replace Experienced Workers

The layoff of 52 employees from Takht Jamshid Petrochemical has been carried out contrary to legal provisions. These employees have stated that the company, under the claim of a lack of feedstock, has laid off veteran workers from the packaging line, while simultaneously hiring new employees on the recommendation of some senior managers.

Utilizing Unemployment Insurance

According to these individuals, the company managers have announced that they must use unemployment insurance until further notice. Obtained information indicates that Takht Jamshid managers have connections with labor department officials, the governor's office, and other regional executive authorities. Workers mention individuals like Mahbubi, the head of the services department, who have played a direct role in the company's decision to dismiss workers.

Layoffs of Contract Workers

The issue of laying off contract workers in petrochemical companies has become widespread following airstrikes on some companies. It seems that contrary to the government's claims, the managers of these companies are using this situation as an opportunity to lay off veteran workers and make room for hiring employees who are all recommended and related to influential individuals in the region.

The protest by these workers in June led to gatherings and strikes in some company sections. Protesters stated that many of the laid-off workers had between 5 to 12 years of experience in this complex, while some less experienced workers remain employed; a situation that, according to them, raises questions about the criteria for selecting individuals for layoffs.

The demonstrators, holding placards, demanded transparency in the layoff process, the reinstatement of experienced employees, and fairness in recruitment processes and decisions related to human resources.
