The National Development Fund has announced that due to a one billion dollar debt, the accounts of the National Iranian Oil Company in the Industry and Mine Bank have been frozen. Mir Mohammad Sadeghi, a member of the executive board of the National Development Fund, explained the status of the fund's claims from the National Iranian Oil Company, stating that these debts had been overdue for about two years. Subsequently, with the presence of relevant officials, the National Iranian Oil Company was given approximately six months to determine how to pay and settle the debts.
Multiple Meetings to Settle Debts
Mir Mohammad Sadeghi added that during this period, numerous meetings were held with the presence of the National Iranian Oil Company, the agent bank, the broker, and the National Development Fund, and specific tables for the repayment of claims were set up. According to these tables, it was decided that amounts would be paid monthly. However, in the execution phase, some payments were again halted, which led to the continuation of claims. The executive board member of the National Development Fund stated that the debts of companies related to the National Iranian Oil Company have been pursued over the past two to three years, and part of these claims entered legal stages due to their significant impact on the financial statements of the debtors.
Management Change and Accelerated Follow-up
Mir Mohammad Sadeghi continued that with a change in management in the relevant organization, the process of following up and settling the debt figures was pursued more quickly, which is why the issue was also raised in the media. He emphasized that the approach of the National Development Fund has always been to cooperate with the government and the National Iranian Oil Company, and they have tried to draft a specific table for the repayment of claims in accordance with the conditions of the National Iranian Oil Company, so that both the principal claims and the related interest are settled and aligned.
He added that the issue was supposed to be presented for final decision-making in one or two sessions of the board of trustees of the National Development Fund, but due to the country's conditions and the irregular holding of the board of trustees' meetings, this issue was delayed.
