Bills for electricity and water for many consumers in June and July this year show that household consumption costs have increased by up to 300% and even more in some cases. This increase in costs has caused concerns among consumers.
Reason for Cost Increases
Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi, spokesperson for the electricity industry, stated in an interview that the three to fourfold increase in some electricity bills is not due to arbitrary or sudden changes in tariffs. He explained that electricity tariffs usually change once a year at the beginning of May according to the law. Therefore, these cost increases are not related to tariff changes.
The Role of Consumption and Tariff Brackets
Abdolamir Yaghouti, Director General of the Energy Management and Customer Affairs Planning Office at Tavanir Company, stated in an interview with "ISNA" that the reason for the multiple increases in electricity bills for some household consumers is increased consumption and shifts in tariff brackets. He emphasized that when we talk about the multiple increase in the bill amount compared to the similar period, the only reason that can cause this is increased consumption and shifts in tariff brackets.
