Organized Corruption in Marun Petrochemical; A Mafia Network within SATA

Key managers of Marun Petrochemical are accused of shaping a mafia structure in companies affiliated with SATA. This corruption could be a serious warning for corporate governance in Iran.

According to information and documents obtained, an organized network of current and former managers of some major industrial and economic enterprises in the country are accused of forming a mafia structure in the areas of projects, equipment procurement, and catalyst purchases in companies affiliated with the Social Security Organization of Armed Forces (SATA).

New Dimensions of the Governance Crisis

If proven, these allegations could reveal new dimensions of the corporate governance crisis in these entities. Names such as Amin and Ali Amraei (CEOs of Marun Petrochemical and Sangan Steel), Amir Najafipour (former CEO of the Social Security Organization of Armed Forces), and several other key figures are at the center of this network.

This network, benefiting from security cover and support, has moved amounts exceeding several hundred million dollars in the areas of projects, equipment procurement, catalyst purchases, and economic partnerships. One of the key points of this case is the approximately $120 million purchase of catalysts for Marun Petrochemical through the Roujan Sanat company.

Uncertain Fate and Serious Questions

Critics say that despite the extent of these corruptions, no effective supervisory body within the armed forces has prevented the activities of this network. More details and documents related to domestic and foreign investments and suspicious transactions will be published soon; issues that affect the rights of retired armed forces personnel and public interests.
