Protest Against War Bonus Payment Method
A group of contract workers at the Abadan refinery have protested against the method of war bonus payment. These individuals claim that despite continuous work in 12-hour shifts during two critical periods, including the 12-day war and the recent conflict, they have been deprived of receiving the so-called "war bonus."
According to these workers, they have continued their work in harsh weather conditions and extreme heat, even during holidays, but the bonuses have been awarded to some other employees. They claim that some individuals working in administrative and non-operational environments have received up to 100 million tomans in bonuses over two periods; a matter that they believe does not align with fairness in payments.
This group has also claimed that the process of changing the status of the workforce has been accompanied by ambiguities. According to reports, Fardin Rashidi, the CEO of the refinery, has selectively considered and chosen about 520 introduced and recommended personnel for conversion to direct or contractual employment, while other contract workers remain uncertain.
Request for Transparency in Employment Priorities
The protesting workers are demanding transparency regarding employment priorities at the Abadan refinery. They believe that given the high number of job-seeking youths in Abadan, job opportunities should primarily be allocated to the local workforce of this city and prevent the employment of relatives and acquaintances of some officials and individuals from outside the province.
Claims of Influential Individuals' Interference
In another part of these statements, claims have been made about the interference of some influential individuals and representatives in the recruitment process. The claimants are calling for this issue to be investigated by supervisory bodies and for official explanations to be provided by the managers of the Abadan refinery.
